G.I. Consequence off Joe, which introduces for 2012

"GI Joe: Rise of the Cobra" was more enjoyable than I gave it credit for in theaters. I missed it on the big screen because movies are expensive, especially the big summer tent pole films, which studio reps don't like sending me to for whatever reason.Maybe they just like to invite more important people than me and the invites get snapped up by my colleges....hmmmmmm...Either way, I VOD'd "Rise of the Cobra" and enjoyed the shit out of it. I'm all for a sequel, as long as they don't limit the scope or try to make it serious. It was the cartoonish affair that made "Rise" watchable. I never got the sense that the film thought it was something it wasn't. What it delivered was stupid, superhero-style action and that's what I ate up.Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the guys who wrote"Zombieland" are penning a script and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura talked to MTV about the progress of the film:MTV: H! ave Reese and Wernick delivered a script yet?Lorenzo di Bonaventura: We're not that far. I think it'll be pretty soon. It'll need a lot of work. They all do. I've had an occasion to read some of their pages, so I know the quality is there and the sense of tone is there. Paramount is very excited about us getting it going. No dates have been set. In our heads we think 2012 â€" that summer.MTV: So then you'd start shooting when?di Bonaventura: We'd probably start next spring.MTV: Are Channing Tatum, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and the rest of the main cast going to return?di Bonaventura: We haven't defined it yet. We're gonna keep that under wraps for the moment. They all did great and we liked them all. It's hard to manage as many characters as we tried. It would make life a little easier to have a few less. It'd be a hard decision to lose anybody, because they all did great. If you want to read more speculation from a producer about a script that doesn't exist, you can click here t! o read the rest.Is it just me, or has 2012 already gotten awes! ome? We'v e got Nolan's "Batman 3," Webb's "The Amazing Spider-Man," Whedon's "The Avengers," and now a second G.I. Joe movie?Sigh...only two more years....Source: MTV Moviesblog

Behind the video scene: The brothers off Coen rectify has granulating

true-grit-set-video-1

I’m wildly curious about True Grit, the new version of the Charles Portis novel currently lensing under the supervision of Joel and Ethan Coen. For the past couple weeks I’ve resisted posting the many set photos that have hit the internet as the film shoots in New Mexico and Texas. Mostly because they didn’t show much; you could see old west building facades and some period-appropriate costumes, but there wasn’t anything that really suggested what the movie would look like.

Now there is some video, but the useful factor here is that it shows some brief glimpses of the young, mostly unknown actress Hailee Steinfeld, who plays the story’s heroine, Mattie Ross.Read the rest of this post on SlashFilm.com…

With nightmare one the elm tree road - which CUTs you thought?

A Nightmare On Elm Street

Samuel Bayer’s A Nightmare on Elm Street is finally in theaters everywhere today. Personally, my enthusiasm for the project has waxed and waned over the years. I was wary when I first heard at Comic-Con that the project was under way, but when I had the chance to chat with the director a few weeks ago, I found myself getting more upbeat about the movie’s prospects. Here’s a guy who’s been responsible for some of the most iconic music video imagery in the past two decades, tackling a franchise rife with creative possibilities. Surely, he’d be able to wring some memorable filmmaking out of it, right?

So, did Bayer succeed? Hit the jump for some of my thoughts, and feel free to leave your own in the comments. Spoilers are allowed after this point.

Yew you forget tons of Lightcycles, examine this Lightcar Tron off: Legacies

Yahoo got their hands on this sweet new image from Tron: Legacy showing a Lightcycle going up against a Lightcar.I have no idea if they're called Lightcars or Lightbuggies or whatever. All I know is this still makes me wish December would get here sooner rather than later.TRON is a 3D high-tech adventure set in a digital world that’s unlike anything ever captured on the big screen. Sam Flynn (GARRETT HEDLUND), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (JEFF BRIDGES), looks into his father’s disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin’s loyal confidant (OLIVIA WILDE), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.
