It’s a “Monsters University†week of announcements for Pixar.
Disney Pixar announced the prequel “Monsters University†release date has been pushed back from November 2 next year to June 21 in 2013. No other films are scheduled on this date yet.
The new “Monsters, Inc.†prequel story will show how the two best friends Sully and Mike first met when they were back in college at Monsters University.
Actors John Goodman and Billy Crystal are expected to reprise their voice roles for Sully and Mike respectively. It is not known at this time about other characters returning for prequel.
Over the weekend, the Pixar Blog published the “Monsters University†logo, which was registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office over a week ago. There is no official confirmation at this time if this will be the actual logo for the film.
And it was announced last week that the original film’s director Pete Docter will not be directing the prequel. The prequel will be helmed by Dan Scanlon, who has a Pixar short film “Mater and the Ghostlight†under his belt. He has also worked as a writer on “Cars and in the art department for straight-to-video sequels of “101 Dalmatians†and “The Little Mermaid.â€
