Exclusivity: Kate Beckinsale wants hold itself the roofridge role opposite Mark Wahlberg in âfunctioning smuggling âoff the headlines

El Mayimbe here... About a year ago, it was reported that Mark Wahlberg has come on board to star in "Reykjavik-Rotterdam," a remake of an Icelandic thriller that has been set up at Working Title. Baltasar Kormakur who starred and produced the original film will direct the Wahlberg version.The name of the remake is now known as "Contraband."I also just learned from my sources that Kate Beckinsale will star opposite Wahlberg in the film. The plot centers on a security guard and former alcohol smuggler on the Iceland-Netherlands route who is tempted back into illicit business by a dubious friend after encountering financial problems. The original, which Oskar Jonasson directed, was Iceland's submission for the 2009 foreign-language Oscar race and won five of that country's film awards. Aaron Guzikowski, the writer behind 2009 Blacklist spec "Prisoners," is penning the script.
