If you are North Korean â" âRed Dawnâ ainât for you.
In this weekâs Los Angeles Times article, it was reported the producers were using digital technology to change the invading force from China to North Korea in the upcoming âRed Dawnâ film.
However, the news did not have a warm reception and many scoffed at the idea of appealing to potential distributors.
Producer Tripp Vinson initially said that the film was âconstructed a way to make a scarier, smarter and more dangerous âRed Dawnâ that we believe improves the movie.â
In an e-mail to Ainât It Cool News, Vinson shared his vision to alter the Chinese images into North Korean.
Here is the following e-mail content in bold:
I know there is a lot of interest and questions as to the changes announced regarding âRed Dawn.â
This movie has been rebooted because the filmmakers all love the original movie. The experience of seeing Red Dawn as a young boy in the middle of a Cold War, was life changing for me and a generation. I assure you that everyone involved with the reboot is keenly aware of the responsibility of delivering a movie that can stand eye to eye with the original.
The changes made to âRed Dawnâ in the last few weeks were made in consultation with military think tanks and people that specialize in game theory. Really smart people that spend their days constructing doomsday scenarios for our military and government. The type of people that know the limitations of the North Korean military. The type of people that can project a series of events that could lead to some very scary things happening to our Country. I can assure you, we listened well to those people, especially with regards to the capability of the North Korean military.
âRed Dawnâ isnât for everyone. So, if you are interested in seeing a movie filled with preachy political discussions â" âRed Dawnâ ainât for you. If you love movies in which Americans are the bad guys â" Red Dawn ainât for you. If you get emotional watching daytime television â" âRed Dawnâ ainât for you. If youâre a vegetarian â" âRed Dawnâ probably ainât for you.
But! If you like meat with your potatoes, muscle cares that roar, tanks, guns and things blowing the fuck up by Americanâs kicking some Commie ass â" the we have something special coming your way.
WOLVERINES!
Tripp Vinson
The new remake film will be about several teenagers fighting the invading forces in Spokane, Wash. The film stars Chris Hemsworth, Isabel Lucas, Josh Hutcherson, Adrianne Palicki, Josh Peck and Jeffrey Dean Morgan.
The âRed Dawnâ remake is the directorial debut for Dan Bradley. The screenplay is written by Carl Ellsworth (âRed Eye,â âDisturbiaâ) and Jeremy Passmore (âSpecialâ).
MGM will handle the distribution for the film. It will be released later this year.
