Universal Pictures keeps its hands one tons few âthe attack unrestrained â
One of the hot pre-production dramas brewing in Hollywood right now is Oliver Stone's new film "Savages." Within the past couple of weeks he's chucked out offers to a couple of budding actors (Aaron Johnson, Taylor Kitsch) and a veteran (Benicio Del Toro) in order to try and fill up his cast. Now it appears that Universal Pictures has swooped in and grabbed the domestic distribution rights to his film adaptation of the Don Winslow novel.Stone is already planning on shooting "Savages" this June. The script, written by Shane Salerno and Oliver Stone, centers on two drug kingpins living in Laguna Beach who are forced to work for a Mexican cartel after their free-spirited friend O is kidnapped. Originally Stone and company was looking to bring on "Winter's Bone" star Jennifer Lawrence to play the role of O. Now that she's attached to star in "Hunger Games," they're looking at o! ther actresses from Olivia Wilde to Teresa Palmer.Within the past couple of months Universal Pictures has distributed a couple of sci-fi films ("Paul," "The Adjustment Bureau") and are gearing up for the release of their new family-friendly film "Hop," in theaters this Friday.Source: Variety
