James Bond set, in order ton return ton the broad screen into the year 2012

MGM is going through all sorts of financial hassle with the bankruptcy that they're going through. How could they possibly think of putting together "Bond 23" at this point? Well, when there's a will there's a way, and MGM's certainly is trying to find that. They've announced that they want to go ahead with "Bond 23," setting it up to be released around November 2012.You're probably thinking, "Wait a minute, I thought that MGM is in the crapper right now financially? How the hell are they going to pull this off?" The studio is hoping somebody will take the "Bond" bait and help them put up the finances for a new film. In return, they'll be getting half the rights. However, MGM's hoping that by the time "Bond 23" is on it's final cut that they'll have enough to bring those half of the rights back into their possession.Surely a studio or other powerful production ! company could take that bait, but who's to say that they'll give back their half of the rights when MGM is "feeling better?" They could stubbornly say no, you can't have it like Twentieth Century Fox is doing right now with the Marvel properties they have under their belt. Also, given the fact that this other company is throwing their finances at a "Bond 23," who's to say they don't want to just have more of that series under their own company's logo? After all, the James Bond franchise is the longest-running film series, who wouldn't want a piece of that? There's one more major factor to take in, and that's the cast and crew. Daniel Craig's been filling up his time doing other projects, like the Americanized remake of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo." He still shows interest in being 007 again, but how much longer can one keep their time open for a project that floats in and out of development? The same goes with director Sam Mendes who's moved onto other projects too.Ther! e's a lot of "if's" floating around for "Bond 23," but the mai! n questi on is whether or not MGM can find a way to make it happen within the next few months despite their financial woes. Do you think MGM should even bother trying to make a "Bond 23" at this point? Or do you think that they should be focusing on more important things, like keeping their company some-what intact, instead of piecing together another film?Source: Empire Online
