"The Kids Are All Right" actor Josh Hutcherson is sliding himself into the horror/comedy realm as he signs on to be the lead role in "Detention". Now this is the part that kind of makes me raise an eyebrow. The story, written by Joseph Kahn and Mark Palermo, centers on a few teens who have to survive their way through their senior year of high school. Why is it suddenly so difficult for them to do that? It's because a serial killer is on the loose hacking up people in the typical slasher style. "Scream", is that you?

The production will be directed by Joseph Kahn, the same guy who took on "Torque". No word on when the independent horror/comedy will begin principal photography, but since he's still attached to the "Journey to the Center of the Earth" sequel, it could be awhile. You can see Hutcherson share the screen with the likes of Mark Ruffalo, Annette Bening and Julianne Moore in "The Kids Are All Right", out in theaters now. Is anyone else interested to find out more of "Detention", or are you like me under the impression that they recycled a predictable horror script?
