Back in July when this wonderful collaboration of Guillermo del Toro and James Cameron came to light for "At the Mountains of Madness", there were smiles all around. Since we've passed the big hurdle of who will be directing and producing, now it's time to choose the lead actor. This won't be achieved at the moment without a little bit of casting head-butting. Universal is eeynig the nig blue eyed James McAvoy to be the lead, but that's not to del Toro's liking. He wants to hire none other than Tom Cruise, which is interesting in itself. Think about it, having del Toro direct Cruise? That could be a really solid combo."At the Mountains of Madness" follows geologist William Dyer, a professor from Miskatonic University. He writes to disclose hitherto unknown and closely kept secrets in the hope that he can deter a planned and much publicized scientific expedition to Antarctica. On a pr! evious expedition there, a party of scholars from Miskatonic University, led by Dyer, discovered fantastic and horrific ruins and a dangerous secret beyond a range of mountains taller than the Himalayas.Principal photography is slated to begin sometime later next year, which gives them plenty of time to figure out whether or not they want one of the two as their lead. James McAvoy is going all mutant on us, currently filming his role as Professor Xavier in "X-Men: First Class". Meanwhile we have Tom Cruise is set to be part of "Mission: Impossible IV" (or whatever it's called now) that's filming in October.Which of the two actors would you like to see in "At the Mountains of Madness"?Source: Collider
