Knoxville, SAM mountain and Jacobson one the briefly seized cunning for has utilization off `three

Once upon a time, directors Bobby and Peter Farrelly had the three good actors to play the “The Three Stooges” with Benicio del Toro, Sean Penn and Jim Carry under the MGM banner. Now latter two of the three actors officially dropped out of the project and MGM has handed the project over to 20th Century Fox.

According to TheWrap’s unnamed source, Fox has Johnny Knoxville, Andy Samberg and Australian comic Shane Jacobson on the short list.

Last month, it was reported that Peter Ferrelly wanted to recast with “a major movie star or an unknown.”

TheWrap also wrote, “Not only would Knoxville, Samberg and Jacobson appeal to younger audiences â€" there’s an entire generation (or two) that’s mostly unfamiliar with the Stooges, but they’re also more in line with the spirit of the original slapstick trio.”

The film’s plan is to divide the PG-rated into three 27-minute episodes driven mainly with physical comedy. Fox has already set a start production date of March 14 this year.

Knoxville is best known for his “Jackass” television series and movies over crazy stunts. Samberg starred many years on “Saturday Night Live” and was in films like “Hot Rod” and “I Love You, Man.” As for Jacobson, he was well known in the comedy documentary “Kenny” and is currently the host of a car show “Top Gear Australia.”

For now, take the casting short list as a rumor until something is officially confirmed. "The Three Stooges” film will happen whether I like it or not. However, Johnny Knoxville sounds great with this role. So why not just hire the entire cast of “Jackass” for the movie? The younger audience will simply love this kind of physical comedy.
