Those âLittle Fokkerâ Took Over The box Again Office

First off, Happy New Year everyone! Since the theaters are bogged down with kid movies and Oscar contenders, the nation apparently needs a hard dose of comedy. So once again comedy conquers all, at least in the box office. Universal Pictures' "Little Fockers" dominates the competition, snagging first place with an estimated $26.3 million over this New Years weekend. Since they've managed to make a total of $103 million so far, you bet there'll be another Fock-ing sequel. All because "Little Fockers" is number one doesn't mean there isn't much of an Oscar-buzz-watching crowd. The Coen brothers' "True Grit" pops into a close second with $24.5 million, not really loosing any steam despite it being the film's second weekend in theaters. There's actually another awards contender that's gaining ground box office-wise, and that's "The Fighter." Although it's in the seventh spot wit! h $10 million tucked in it's boxing gloves, the drama's made $46.3 million and continues to draw in crowds with the Oscar-worth performances. Same goes with "The King's Speech," making it's appearance in the top ten with an estimated $7.6 million this weekend. There's been a lot more television advertisement for this flick, and that combined with the heavy buzz you have to expect for it to pop in here somewhere. Not everyone is doing super hot out there. From the looks of it, nobody really cares for "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" since it's still struggling to make it's budget back. The same goes with "Yogi Bear" and "Gulliver's Travels," but at least "Tron Legacy" is almost towards the finish line to break even. It's managed to rake in $130.8 million, rather close to it's $170 million dollar budget, but after being in theaters for three weeks could the science fiction sequel make it? We'll just have to wait and see.For now take a look at the top! ten at this weekend's box office from Box Office Mojo.WEEKEND! STUDIO ESTIMATES (December 31st, 2010 - January 2nd, 2011)
