The Tolkien fans can now rejoice.TheWrap reported the negotiations between MGM and Warner Bros. are very close and to finalize Peter Jackson to direct “The Hobbit.”This on-again and off-again project was long overdue and was initially previously postponed by the departure of director Guillermo del Toro this year and the financial turmoil of MGM.TheWrap had few financial details regarding this negotiation:“Now his deal is all complete, according to individuals close to the project. Both Jackson’s directing fee and percentage of the gross have been settled, through a number of lesser deal points remain outstanding,” wrote in TheWrap.Warner Bros. already spent nearly $30 million on the project with the sets already built in New Zealand. There was also a recent unions spat, which will now involve the prime minster of New Zealand as a negotiator for the movie and the! unions.In addition, more details about “The Hobbit” would be announced soon as NY Times reported over the past weekend on whether the film would be in 3-D.It looks like “The Hobbit” may eventually come true and everyone could start writing real stories instead of rumors on this project.
