It was Muggle madness this weekend as Harry Potter dominated the box office with a Voldemort crushing $125 million opening weekend. I was at the Burbank 16 for the midnight screenings and the lines went all the way around the theatre, with people waiting for hours even for the 3:15 am showings. Everyone is coming out for the last two installments of this beloved franchise and next year it's going to be even crazier for Part II. Harry Potter is so popular it is expected to outgross the Star Wars franchise. Shove that up your Death Star, Vader. The only other new release was Russell Crowe's The Next Three Days, but it bombed. Taking in only $6.7 million on 2,500 screens. Sorry Russell. Nobody can beat Harry Potter opening weekend. Not even the guy who fights gladiators.Megamind continues to do well, earning a respectable $16.1 million in its third week. $136 million worldwide for this ! overrated toon.Unstoppable had its brakes put on early. In two weeks it has made $61 million worldwide. Sounds like people decided to ride the Hogwarts Express instead.Big props to Red. Still in the top ten after six weeks. So far it has earned $122 million worldwide. Who says we don't like watching old people shoot shit?Thanksgiving week is a crowded one with four new movies opening on Wednesday. Disney's 50th animated feature Tangled opens. I recommend you all go see it. It's a great film in the tradition of Disney classics. It competes against Burlesque starring that wax dummy Cher and Christina Aguamaleria or whatever her last fucking name is. Love and Other Drugs with Jake "Man Meat" Gyllenhaal also opens on the 24th. And for all you manly man men...finally...Rock "The Dwayne" Johnson has come back to action! Dwayne is gonna lay the smack down on your roody-poo candy ass with the revenge flick Faster. Can't wait to see that one.Everyone have a wonderful Thanksgiving ho! liday. Please don't get too drunk and punch your Uncle or slee! p with y our second cousin, no matter how hot she is.And please, please, please don't drink and drive. You can't read my nonsense from a jail cell or the grave.WEEKEND TOP 10 STUDIO ESTIMATES, November 19 - 21, 2010. 1 Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I $125.1 M 2 Megamind $16.1 M 3 Unstoppable $13.1 M 4 Due Date $9.1 M 5 The Next Three Days $6.7 M 6 Morning Glory $5.2 M 7 Skyline $3.4 M 8 Red $2.4 M 9 For Colored Girls $2.4 M 10 Fair Game (2010) $1.4 M What did you guys see over the weekend?
