Ben Schwartz park has new version off âSoapdish â

No film, no matter how big or small, is immune to a Hollywood remake. "Soapdish" is the latest two-decade old film that makes it's way onto the remake slate. Ben Schwartz is penning the remake for Paramount Pictures with Rob Reiner and Alan Griesman producing. The funny thing is that Griesman produced the original, so maybe he thinks there's a cool new way to spin the story a second time around.Originally directed by Michael Hoffman, "Soapdish" centers on an up-and-coming female actor who enters the daytime soap world holding to dethrone the long-working actress from her role. However, things don't go exactly as the young actress planned. The original starred Sally Field, Teri Hatcher, Robert Downey Jr,, Whoopi Goldmerg and Kevin Kline. No word on whether Paramount wants to bring any of the actors back for even a small role. The most interesting thing about this piece of news is Ben Schwartz! himself. The man has only a couple of writing credits under his belt, a couple of them being the opening number for the 81st Academy Awards and some work on "Robot Chicken." Now that he has a feature-length script he must tackle, let's see how the end result turns out.Source: The Hollywood Reporter
