D.J. Caruso edge more steer âthe more preacher âafter all

The rumor mill is spinning like crazy once again with word that "Disturbia" and "I Am Number Four" director D.J. Caruso is signing on to handle "Preacher." If this is true, then it certainly came out of left field through Twitter."My deal just closed on 'Preacher.' Going back to the dark side and pretty fucking pumped!" This news did pop up earlier from an unverified account, so maybe this is nothing more than some random fanboy fantasy that got a little too much attention. Maybe now that there's a new interest in "Preacher" some negotiations may blossom. Columbia Pictures is currently holding onto "Preacher" with a script written by John August in their grasp. The Vertigo/DC comic book was created by writer Garth Ennis and artist Steve Dillon. The story focused on Jesse Custer, a preacher who's had it with the corrupt folks of Annville, Texas and the word of God itself. One da! y a powerful entity called Genesis possesses Custer, causing him to decimate his church and the people in it. From there he goes on a cross-country journey to literally find God, who ditched his post in heaven, with the likes of his ex-girlfriend Tulip and the Irish vampire Cassidy.Who knows if Caruso is actually attached to direct or not. There's been rumors flying around for a week now about this, and if that actually is Caruso behind that Twitter account then "Preacher" is finally getting itself off the ground.Do you think D.J. Caruso is a good choice to direct "Preacher," or would you rather see somebody else take on that job?Source: The Film Stage
