Johnny Depp speaks butt his character off Barnabus into the dark unfortunate `

Actor Johnny Depp wants to portray “Dark Shadows” Barnabus Collins close to the original played by Jonathan Frid in the late 1960s and 1970s.

“Jonathan Frid did with that character with that classic iconic look he created, I find it difficult to stray very far from that,” praised Depp on MTV News.

The cast will also include Eva Green, Jackie Earle Haley and Bella Heathcote. The film will be directed by Tim Burton.

“There’s something about the idea of this vampire coming back after 200 years into this modern world,” he said. “With a touch of the poetic, with the tendency to wax a little poetic now and again. I have a good feeling about it. But Jonathan Frid’s Barnabas was so special.”
