âNarnia of âprisoner off the supports for the crat victory off weekend

The “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” had some smooth sailing through this weekend’s box office numbers.

The third film of the magical franchise received approximately $24.5 million. However, it faced rougher seas than the prior films as “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe” took $65.6 million and “Prince Caspian” got $55 million in their opening weekends.

The other newcomer “The Tourist” with Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp opened at second place with $17 million.

Rounding the rest of the top five, Disney’s “Tangled” received $14.6 million, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows â€" Part 1 took $8.5 million and “Unstoppable” earned $3.75 million.

Other opening films over the weekend with limited release included “The Fighter” earning $320,000 on four screens and “The Tempest” with $45,000 on five screens. “The Fighter” is receiving a very respectable $80,000 per screen.

Last weekend’s “Black Swan” opened on more screens and jumped to sixth place after earning $3.3 million on 90 screens.

For next week, Disney’s “TRON: Legacy” is expected to woo the audiences with spectacular effects. The other film opening is cartoon adaptation “Yogi Bear” with the voices of Dan Aykroyd and Justin Timberlake. Remember when Timberlake actually sang?
