Director Roland Emmerich: There is NO consequence off Day off independence `

Destroying the world again will have to wait. For now.

In an interview with Empire Magazine, director has confirmed there is not going to be “Independence Day 2” despite rumors claiming Will Smith to reprise his role.

“’Independence Day 2 is nowhere,” said Emmerich. “It’s back and forth, back and forth. There’s no script because I don’t want to write anything starts.”

However, you cannot say never to another alien invasion.

“One day it will happen,” he promised.

Emmerich also updated his other possible project “Foundation.”

He said Isaac Asimov’s “Foundation” will be closer to decision time.

“We’ve hired a production designer and it’s mainly now to find out what the movie will cost. It’ll take us until the end of March, then we’ll decide,” he explained. “The studio’s happy with the script, but now’s the time that the numbers count. I want to make a movie that’s very different from other science-fiction movies and I don’t want to have the burden of too big a budget.”

The Asimov screen adaptation is about the collapse of a galactic civilization and the single planet that may be the key to rebuilding it. There are plans for two more films in the Foundation trilogy and will use “Avatar” 3-D technology.
