Ton of fuel element James Franco into the discussions into `the Akira from Manga ton

Warner Brothers is in talks to sign actor James Franco to play the lead role Kaneda in the live-action manga production of “Akira.”

The film will be based on the six volume manga written by Katsuhiro Otomo. It is set in a post-apocalyptic cyberpunk world in which a leader of a biker gang saves his friend from a medical experience.

“Akira” film is being produced by Leonardo DiCaprio’s production company Appian Way. It has hired director Albert Hughes to helm the film.
