Which will be the next young-adult film franchise?
Fox 2000 signed a development deal with book company Paper Lantern Lit., which included the rights to Lauren Oliverâs second novel âDelirium.â
âWe know thereâs a hug, really aggressive audience in young moviegoers. I think the trend right now is to look at things that are created for them,â said Fox 2000 president Elizabeth Gabler to Variety.
The deal will also allow Fox 2000 to develop and produce more young adult novels from Oliver and Paper Lanternâs authors.
Here is the bookâs synopsis:
âBefore scientists found the cure, people thought love was a good thing. They didnât understand that once loveâ"the deliriaâ"blooms in your blood, there is no escaping its hold.
âThings are different now. Scientists are able to eradicate love, and the government demands that all citizens receive the cure upon turning eighteen. Lena Haloway has always looked forward to the day when sheâll be cured. A life without love is a life without pain: safe, measured, predictable and happy.
âBut with ninety-five days left until her treatment, Lena does the unthinkable: she falls in love.â
âDeliriumâ has hit number six on the New York Timesâ childrenâs chapter bestseller list. Oliverâs first book âBefore I Fallâ was also optioned by Fox 2000.
