âHas child Wimpy âholds far RK âthe WurzelschöÃlingsmeiÃel â, in order ton win the crat from weekend tons

It was kind of inevitable in a way for "Sucker Punch," wasn't it? After all, before the film's opening weekend even started it was already being drowned by a barrage of horrible reviews and bad word-of-mouth. Audiences were on the fence with Zack Snyder's visual feast, but the 20% rating on Rotten Tomatoes shows how sour the taste of the film was in critics' mouths. But even the small positive word-of-mouth couldn't save Snyder's passion project from bringing in a smaller profit than Warner Bros projected, landing in second with $19 million. Thats not the way you want an $82 million dollar film to open up on opening weekend. The film that trumped "Sucker Punch" was a sequel nobody really expected to see ever pop up in theaters. Of course we're talking about Twentieth Century Fox's "Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules." The family-friendly flick pushed all the scantily-clad women off! the first place throne, taking it over with an estimated $24.4 million. Guess in the end cutesy family films do win over heavy makeup and huge visual effects. The rest of the films placed in this weekend's top ten box office pretty much moved down one or two paces in order to make room for the two new releases. "Limitless" still holds out strong with another $15.2 under its pocket (oh the power of Bradley Cooper's eyes). While last weekend "The Lincoln Lawyer" was beat out by "Rango," this time the solid courtroom drama lands in fourth with $11 million. All right, so it may not be making the big bucks Lionsgate hope it would, but it'll probably make the remainder of it back through DVD sales. Then there's "Rango," still holding on in the fifth spot with $9.8 million. The Gore Verbinski animated adventure finally leaped over the $100 million dollar mark, which shows that audiences are still flocking out to see the film even though there's now another family flick out in thea! ters. Lets see how it holds up next weekend when a big contend! er ("Hop ") bounces its way in."Mars Needs Moms" is that ongoing box office train wreck you can't help but watch all the way through. This weekend it lands in the number ten spot, making only a mere $2.1 million. Now its overall domestic total is $19.1, very microscopic of a number especially when your budget is $150 million. Ouch. Here are the rest of the box office totals below:WEEKEND BOX OFFICE FOR MARCH 25-27, 2011
